Plants, plants, and more plants…..

Plants, plants, and more plants…..

Oh dear! Yesterday was such a full, busy, tiring day! We had lovely breakfast burritos for breakfast then went to Flower World in Snohomish. I wanted to go there because they had the best selection of succulents the last time we were there. I did not like the ones from Home Depot or QFC when we were there the last time. I picked up some little glass orbs from World Market for the previous succulents I had acquired.  At Flower…

Dying plants- the experiment.

Dying plants- the experiment.

While we were replanting our potter plants, Katie and I happened upon these little stragglers. I quickly decided to replant them into some jars and see what happens. This evening we all claimed which one we thought would succeed and named it!! Now the journey goes to see which little straggler survives and which ones fail. No, the named plant pets will not be taken care of by their respective claimers. I will in fact be tending to each and…

Liberian Journal, Day 3

Liberian Journal, Day 3

[June 21st, 2011 : 1:25pm] Busy day today. Drank 3 bottles of water already (the big 1.5 liter). Very cool day, not sweating enough to merit drinking that much so now I’m peeing all the time. Today has been different from yesterday. Lots of kids today, since they are all inside due to the torrential rains we are experiencing. Lots of kids holding onto me at all times; I have a party of 10 or so with me whenever I…

Walls of Postcards!

Walls of Postcards!

Today has been a downcast day, outside that is. 🙂 I’ve been pretty happy with  my day. I got the last little bit of Liberia stuff I need. Four boxes of gloves, band-aid boxes, some food, face wipes (can’t have enough I say), and some instant coffee I feel like it will be great to have while there… maybe a pick me up?? I have one more thing I need to get… aside from borrowing luggage… shoes. Geez. But I…

Ridiculous shopping experience

Ridiculous shopping experience

Alright, today was the day I went to Wal*Mart and purchased all my stuff for Liberia…. I do not have NEARLY enough skirts, but I can’t find any that fit comfortably. I have two dresses, a bunch of shirts, and two potential skirts. Hopefully something works! It’s going to be hot, wet, and humid the entire time. I need to subtract a few things from the bill, but it was quite spendy. Seriously, the prices have really gone up on…

The Duct Tape Adventurer

The Duct Tape Adventurer

Hi HO!! Off to work I do not go! Next week though, I have some days to work. 🙂 Tomorrow is the fundraiser for Serve the Children! I am really excited for the work I get to do while there! I am the raffle ticket seller, job description, “Be polite-fully aggressive.” Sounds like it is just up my alley… other than that politely part; however, a smile makes anything polite. Alright, for the title. I have decided… duct tape cards, stationary and…

Postcards and guacamole sandwiches.

Postcards and guacamole sandwiches.

Alright, so today has been a longish/short day all at the same time. I didn’t get to sleep until about 5 this morning, woke up around 1030 and just putted around the apartment for a bit. I got all my post cards organized to send out here shortly. I was going to go to the Starbucks down the street and write my post cards that needed to go out today. Frankly, I didn’t make it to the Starbucks in time…

Quests. Facebook. Walks. OH MY!

I have not been on Facebook in over a week. … and today is honestly the first day that I have missed it. I took a three hour walk today all around Kirkland. … (mainly to the docks and back home)…. but still. All these glorious sites and wonderful things I saw, but I can’t tell anyone on Facebook about it! Yes, Yes, I know this blog connects to my Facebook so basically I am now telling everyone on Facebook…….

Great food!

Great food!

Ok, so two days ago I cooked minestrone… everything from scratch…. IT WAS GREAT!!! Best I have ever tasted. I only tweaked one part of it because I knew it would be tastier on the tongue if I did it this way. Here is the recipe with my tweaking 🙂 Hale & Hearty Minestrone Soup Ingredients Makes 6-8 servings 2 tablespoons olive oil 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 medium yellow onion, chopped 6 cups vegetable broth or water ( I did…
